Bachelor of Physiotherapy Course of 4 ½ years was started in 1994 at K.L.E.S. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum under Department of Physiotherapy affiliated to Karnataka University Dharwad. In 1997 it got affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
It is the first Institute to start Master of Physiotherapy program in the year 2000 under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The Department of Physiotherapy emerged as an independent Institute in 2004 and today is well known as “K.L.E. Institue Of Physiotherapy”, Belgaum.

Recent Highlights
• Department of Oncology Physiotherapy of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy was invited to give a talk on “Breast Cancer Awareness” at Primary Health Care Center Mutaga on 5th of March 2025 for ASHA workers. The talk was delivered on Breast cancer risk factors, signs and symptoms and prevention strategies, self breast examination techniques followed by question and answer session. Total 25 ASHA workers participated actively, appreciated the event and found it informative.
• The 2nd batch of Interdisciplinary certificate course on application of Artificial Intelligence in Physiotherapy was organized by KAHER Institute Of Physiotherapy in collaboration with KLE College of Engineering and Technology, Chikodi. It commenced on 23rd November 2024 and completed on 7th March 2025. It was a hybrid course that consisted of online and offline lectures and a total of 23 participants had enrolled and completed the course that included interns and post graduates.
• KAHERs NSS unit 05 of Kle’s Institute Of Physiotherapy conducted A Guest lecture for Final year BPT students on Consumers Rights on the occasion of Consumer Rights Day. Smt. Advocate Sampada Kalkundri was the resource person.
• Department of Neurophysiotherapy Conducted an awaeness programme in Jamboti village on 20th march 2025, distribution of pamphlets relating to information about prevention and management of Road traffic accident, and the were also informed about the helpline number for emergency situations.
• The Gender Equality Cell of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy hosted an engaging photography competition on 22nd march 2025 in celebration of “International Woman’s Day”. The theme of the competition “Gender through lens”, encourage students to challenge and break conventional gender roles through their creative photgraphes reflect gender equality and capture powerful moments related to gender issues .
• On March 22nd 2025, on the eve of World Water Day, the NSS Unit 05 of KLE’s Institute of Physiotherapy embarked on an educational visit to ICAR KLE Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mattikopp. This initiative aimed to enhance awareness about water conservation, sustainable agriculture, and soil health.
• A UDEHP workshop was conducted on “Entrepreneurship for Healthcare Professionals” on 24th March 2025 organized by KLE Institution of Physiotherapy. Mr. Veeramani V. NLP Trainer, Mentor to various startups and Founder Bizz Diagnostics was the resource persons for the workshop. There were 36 participants and they provided positive feedback for the workshop and all the sessions were very informative. • The Department of Pediatric Physiotherapy, KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, celebrated “World Down Syndrome Day” on *March 26, 2025, at SavitriBai Phule Garden, Belagavi, focusing on Awareness, inclusion, and support for children with Down syndrome. The event was inaugurated by SB Patil, Block Education Officer (Rural), Dr. Deepa Metgud, HOD Paediatric Physiotherapy, KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, Heads of the Ankur, Samartham, Sparsh Snehalaya Special Schools, Nadeem Sanadi. Congratulations Dr. Vijay Kage! We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Vijay Kage, Dean of the Faculty of Physiotherapy at KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, has been selected as a member of the Central Council for Physiotherapy of the National Commission for Allied and Health Care Professions (NCAHP), New Delhi. This achievement reflects his dedication, expertise, and commitment to the growth and advancement of the physiotherapy profession. • The Department of Physiotherapy Education (DOPE), KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy (KIPT), Belagavi, organized a guest lecture on “Mind Your Stress: Strategies for a Healthier You” on 28th March 2025 for the non-teaching faculty of the constituent units of KAHER, Belagavi. The session aimed to promote mental well-being and stress management. Dr. Bhimsen Tekkalki, Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, JNMC, Belagavi, served as the resource person and provided valuable insights into effective stress management strategies. Following the lecture, a practical session on relaxation therapy and fitness exercises was conducted by Dr. Vinuta Deshpande, Incharge, DOPE, KIPT, and Dr. Soumya Hulamani, Assistant Professor, KIPT, equipping participants with simple yet effective techniques for stress relief. The event was coordinated by Dr. Vijayalaxmi Kanabur, Member, DOPE, KIPT, and witnessed active participation from 17 attendees from various constituent Units. The session was well received and appreciated for its relevance and practical approach, reinforcing KIPT’s commitment to the overall well-being of its faculty and staff.
• 10.The Institution Innovation Council (IIC), KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy (KIPT), Belagavi, organized a guest lecture on “How to Be a Good Entrepreneur” for the non-teaching faculty of the constituent units of KAHER on 28th March 2025 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at KIPT, Belagavi. The session aimed to inspire and educate participants about entrepreneurship and innovation. Mrs. Priya Puranik, Secretary, Laghu Udhyog Bharati, Karnataka, served as the resource person, providing valuable insights into entrepreneurial strategies and business development. Additionally, Mrs. Lata Hooli, an eminent entrepreneur from Belagavi, shared her experiences, offering practical perspectives on overcoming challenges in the business world. A total of 17 participants from various constituent units actively engaged in discussions, sharing their ideas and experiences. The session was highly interactive and well-received, fostering an environment of learning and inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs within the institution.

• Proud Moment for KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, and KAHER Belagavi! Our Alumnus Dr. Neha Tipnis Karnik served as the physiotherapist for the victorious India U19 Women’s Cricket Team at the ICC Under 19 women’s T20 World Cup 2025 Malayasia. • Successful Inauguration of the Certificate Course on Aquatic Therapy! KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, proudly inaugurated the **third batch** of India’s first-of-its-kind **Certificate Course on Aquatic Therapy** today! The event marked the beginning of an enriching hands on practice journey for participants post one month of hybrid mode training with **Dr. Dipti Patil** leading the course as the resource person. The program includes **one week of hands-on training** and **three weeks of independent practice**, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. • On 1/2/25,The club committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, successfully organized a series of interclass extracurricular activities as part of the “ANANTARA” annual meet 2024-25, at the KIPT campus. The events included a Mocktail Making competition, Best Out of Waste contest, Fruit and Vegetable Carving, and Face Painting competition. These engaging activities provided students with an opportunity to showcase their creativity and skills in various domains. The event was well-received, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and enthusiasm among the participants and audience alike.
• On the occasion of World Cancer Day (4th February 2025), the Department of Oncology Physiotherapy conducted an awareness lecture on “Cervical and Breast Cancer and Its Prevention” for the resident girls of Shri Arsha Vidya Ashram, Tilakwadi, Belagavi. A total of 20 girls attended the session, which aimed to educate them about the importance of early detection, preventive measures, and lifestyle modifications to reduce cancer risks. Dr. Sayali Patil was the resource person for the session, supported by postgraduate students of Oncology Physiotherapy. The lecture covered essential topics, including early screening, self-examinations, risk factors, symptoms, and the role of physiotherapy in cancer care. The session emphasized the importance of healthy lifestyle choices and encouraged participants to be proactive about their health. The interactive format allowed attendees to ask questions and clarify doubts, making it an engaging and informative experience. • ANANTARA 2024-25: A Day of Sports, Spirit & Success!** The **Institute of Physiotherapy, KLE Academy of Higher Education & Research, Belagavi**, hosted its **Annual Sports Meet – ANANTARA 2024-25** with great enthusiasm and energy at **District Stadium, Nehru Nagar, Belagavi** on **10th February 2025**. • In observance of Cancer Awareness Month, on 11 th February 2025. the Department of Community Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, in collaboration with the Department of Oncology Physiotherapy, organized an awareness lecture on the **Importance of Vaccination in the Prevention of Cervical and Breast Cancer** for high school students at Kannada Government High School, Modaga, Belagavi. The session aimed to educate students on cancer, including its causes, modes of spread, early warning signs, and preventive measures. Special emphasis was placed on the role of vaccination in preventing cervical cancer and the importance of early detection strategies. Additionally, the session covered self-breast examination techniques, empowering students with knowledge on early diagnosis and proactive healthcare measures. The interactive session helped raise awareness and encouraged students to adopt preventive health practices, contributing to the fight against cancer.Total 25 students were benefitted from this event.
• KAHER University Conducted an orientation programme for Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi on Epad Usage for examination on Tuesday 25/2/2025.The Controller of Examinations,KAHER Dr.Chandra Metgud and Assistant Controller of Examinations Dr Anand Heggannavar Oriented the first year Undergraduate students (2024-29 batch) on the Procedures of the Epad. A mock test drill under the supervision of institutional exam section faculty Members was given to the students on the Epad.This Paperless method of examination would be henceforth implemented for Internal Assessment and University exams for Undergraduate students. 10 Faculty and 4 non teaching faculty participates in this programme where 113 students were benefitted

• CRESTORA- 2025 for the batch 2020-2025 on February 24, 2025, at the KLE Centenary Convention Center and JNMC Lawn, Nehru Nagar, Belagavi. The event commenced at 5:00 PM with a warm welcome to esteemed guests for the evening: Dr. V. S. Sadhunavar, Chairman of the Local Governing Body, KLE Society; Dr. A. G. K. Sinha, Former Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Punjabi University, Patiala, Punjab; and Dr. Shovan Saha, Associate Professor, Former HOD, Department of Occupational Therapy, MCHP, MAHE, Manipal, graced the occasion, while Prof. Dr. Nitin M. Gangane, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of KAHER, presided over the event. The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the graduating students as they took the professional oath, read by Dr. A. G. K.
