KLE Institute of Physiotherapy located in Belgaum and catering physiotherapy education and services since 1994, is one of the premier Institute in the field of Physiotherapy.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy Course of 4 ½ years was started in 1994 at K.L.E.S. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum under Department of Physiotherapy affiliated to Karnataka University Dharwad. In 1997 it got affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.

It is the first Institute to start Master of Physiotherapy program in the year 2000 under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The Department of Physiotherapy emerged as an independent Institute in 2004 and today is well known as “K.L.E. Institue Of Physiotherapy”, Belgaum.

Recent Highlights

• On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Department of Community Physiotherapy, KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, organized a Random Quiz Competition on Ecosystem Awareness at Government MHPS, Basarikatti School on 5th June 2026. The quiz included questions related to ecosystems, environmental conservation, biodiversity, pollution control, and sustainable practices. Students actively participated and enthusiastically answered the questions, demonstrating their knowledge and interest in environmental issues. To encourage awareness and promote eco-friendly behavior, students who provided the best answers were awarded saplings. The activity served as an interactive platform to educate children about the importance of protecting the environment and inspired them to contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future.
• On the occasion of World Environment Day, NSS Unit 5 of KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, conducted an awareness programme at Government MHPS, Basrikatti on 5th June 2026. A basic waste-management session was delivered to school students, focusing on simple and practical techniques for segregating dry and wet waste and composting organic waste. The session aimed to develop environmentally responsible habits among students and encourage active participation in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. As part of the celebration, a Tree Plantation Drive was also carried out along the pathway across the school campus. Students, teachers, and NSS volunteers actively participated in planting saplings, emphasizing the importance of increasing green cover and protecting the environment. The programme was conducted successfully and helped promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among the participants.
• On 4th June 2026, the Extramural Committee of KLE Institute of Physiotherapy organized a Hand Painting Competition in observance of World Environment Day. The theme of the competition, “Our Land, Our Future!”, encouraged students to creatively depict the importance of protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices. Students participated enthusiastically and showcased their artistic talents through vibrant and thought-provoking paintings that conveyed strong messages about environmental conservation. The competition was judged by Dr. Renu Pathanshetty and Dr. Soumya Hulamani, who appreciated the creativity, originality, and relevance of the artworks. The event was conducted successfully and served as an effective platform to spread environmental awareness through art.
• The Extramural Committee organized a Stand-Up Comedy Competition on 27th May 2026 in celebration of World Laughter Day, observed annually on May 3. Students from different academic years actively participated in the event and entertained the audience with their humorous performances, creativity, and stage presence. The competition provided an opportunity for students to express themselves confidently while fostering joy, laughter, and positive social interaction. The event was judged by Dr. Varun Naik, who appreciated the participants for their enthusiasm and talent. The programme was conducted successfully and created a fun, lively, and cheerful atmosphere for all attendees.
