KLE Institute of Physiotherapy located in Belgaum and catering physiotherapy education and services since 1994, is one of the premier Institute in the field of Physiotherapy.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy Course of 4 ½ years was started in 1994 at K.L.E.S. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum under Department of Physiotherapy affiliated to Karnataka University Dharwad. In 1997 it got affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.

It is the first Institute to start Master of Physiotherapy program in the year 2000 under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The Department of Physiotherapy emerged as an independent Institute in 2004 and today is well known as “K.L.E. Institue Of Physiotherapy”, Belgaum.

Recent Highlights

•KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, OBG Physiotherapy department successfully conducted Hands on workshop On Pessary Insertion for pelvic organ prolapse on 3rd June 2024 at clinical skill lab. Dr Hema Patil, Associate Professor, OBG department, JNMC Belagavi Was the resource person and 8 Postgraduate students of OBG Physiotherapy were the beneficiaries of this workshop.

•KAHER Institute of physiotherapy NSS unit 5 inaugurated the seven days Annual mega camp at adopted village Islampur on 5/6/24. The Camp was inaugurated by the Dean Dr. Deepa Metgud, Dr Rahul MO PHC Islampur and Smt Leelavati Baagoji Government School In charge.The 1st day of camp included 18 volunteers and 4 teaching staff. Various activities like tree plantation and awareness about breast cancer, organ donation clean hand washing techniques were demonstrated. NSS Unit 5 coordinator Dr. Santosh Metgud and Co-coordinator Dr Raghvendra Dharwadkar supervised the events.

•The NSS Unit of JNMC had organized free BMD and Physiotherapy treatment camp as part of their annual Mega health camp at the adopted village of buthramhatti on 7/6/24. Department of CBR of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi was part of this camp.

•The extramural committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy organized a face painting competition to celebrate World Oceans Day on 7th of June 2024 from 11:00 am to 01:00pm Dr. Varsha Huddar and Dr. Apeksha Hungund were the judges for the event. The participants took efforts to showcase their excellent creative skills. The event was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Sanjiv Kumar Principal, and Dr.Nikita Pawar In charge Extramural Committee KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy. A total of 7 teams participated in the event. RESULT : Winners are as follow: 1st place – Emisha Pereira – 1st year BPT 2nd place – Jiya Mehta – 4th year BPT 3rd place – Shravani Jadhav – 1st year BPT

•The Gender Equality Committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy organized a street play on 10th June 2024 in Islampur Village to celebrate Pride Month. The event aimed to raise awareness about LGBTQ+ rights, promote inclusivity, and foster dialogue within the community. The theme for the street play was “Embracing Diversity: Breaking Barriers” a total of 10 undergraduate students participated in the street play. The street play featured captivating performances by the students, expressive gestures, and powerful dialogues conveyed messages of acceptance and love. The Theme included overcoming stereotypes, challenging discrimination, and celebrating individuality. It also addressed common misconceptions about LGBTQ+ individuals. Islampur Village residents expressed their commitment to creating a more inclusive environment. The Gender Equality Committee’s street play in Islampur Village was a resounding success. By celebrating Pride Month, they reinforced the message that love knows no boundaries and that everyone deserves respect and dignity. A total of 50 residents of the village benefited from the same.

•The KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy’s OBG Physiotherapy Department successfully organized a guest lecture on “HPV vaccine awareness” on 12th June, 2024. The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Hema Patil, Associate Professor, OBG Department, JNMC. The lectureincluded information about HPV infection, available vaccines, age-group for vaccination as well as the required doses. The lecture was attended by 120 people including PGs and faculty members.

•Department of Community Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation conducted a Physical Fitness Assessment Camp for higher secondary school children of Marathi Government School, Mutaga on 12/06/2024.The students were assessed for Flexibility, Strength and endurance using the physical fitness assessment charts. Total of 45 students participated in this camp. The school authorities appreciated and thanked the department for this initiative.

•Department of Physiotherapy Education, KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi organized a Workshop On “Interactive Teaching Learning Methods To Promote Student Engagement” on 14th June 2024.The resource person for the workshop was Dr.Vinutha Shankar and Dr.Naveen Kumar, UCHPE, Sri Devraj URS Academy of Higher Education and Research. The Workshop highlighted on different methods of teaching like Jigsaw, Flipped Classroom, Team Based Learning, etc which would help to engage the students in an interactive learning session. Exergaming platforms were practically introduced to the participants for better assessment, teaching and documentation of the concepts. Total of 25 staff members participated in this workshop.

•Department of Community Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Conducted a Guest Lecture on 18th June 2024 for the ASHA Workers of Mutaga PHC on “Importance of Ergonomics in Breast Feeding Mothers”. The ASHA workers were sensitised on Benefits of breast feeding to the mother and the child. The Prevalence of various musculoskeletal pain in feeding mothers and the positions of feeding which would help relive these were demonstrated by Dr.Vijayalaxmi Kanabur Assistant Professor and 3 Postgraduate students. 28 ASHA workers were part of this lecture and acknowledged to further sensitise the nursing mothers.

•On the occasion of 10th International yoga day, KLE institute of physiotherapy NSS unit 5 celebrated yoga day under the title of “Self and society” at 3 different places viz Kanbargi Lake, shantai vrudhashram and Kaher auditorium. Staff and students of the institute actively participated and performed the yoga.

•The Department of Pediatric Physiotherapy successfully conducted a workshop on Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) from June 20th to June 23rd, 2024. Dr. Asha Chitnis as the resource person for the workshop, who shared her extensive knowledge and expertise in pediatric physiotherapy.The workshop was inaugurated on June 20th Over the four days, the workshop covered a comprehensive range of topics essential for effective pediatric physiotherapy. The key components of the workshop included Classification of Cerebral Palsy, Assessment Techniques, Case Studies, Sensory Processing Treatment, Assessment on Kids and Hands-On Techniques. A total of 28 delegates were present for the workshop.

•The Alumni Association of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi organized a workshop on “Shoulder Rehabilitation” on 22 June 2024 for Interns and 1 year MPT students of KIPT. Dr. Basvaraj Nanjannavar, HOD Department of Physiotherapy BIMS Belagavi UG alumni of KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi was the resource person. A total of 60 students were benefited.



  • The Gender Equality Cell of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy conducted an Inter-Class Face Painting competition on the occasion of “International Day of Transgender Day Of Visibility ” on 29th March 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m at KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy. A total of 18 students actively participated in the event. The judges for the competition were Dr. Peeyoosha Gurudutt and Dr Varsha Huddar . The event was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Sanjiv Kumar – Principal, and Dr. Nikita Pawar – Nodal teacher, Gender Equality Cell, KIPT. The nodal teacher, both the gender champions and members of the gender equality cell were present for the event.
  • On 17th April 2023, Belagavi KAHER Institute of physiotherapy’s department of Neuro physiotherapy organized a three days Hands-on Workshop in Neuro Developmental Therapy from 17th to 19th April 2024. Dr Harpreet Singh Sachdev is the resource person, at present he is serving as physiotherapist in AIIMS Delhi, he is also acquainted with post graduate physical therapy program in proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation from California USA, advanced certified Neuro development Therapy practitioner from NDTA USA, and clinical neuro dynamics and neural mobilization from NDS Australia. Stroke is the most common condition which leads to mortality and disability. Neuro Developmental Therapy is one of the most effective therapies used to treat disability secondary to stroke. Dr Sanjiv Kumar principal and professor of Institute, Dr Jeba Chitra Dept head, Dr R.V.Dharwadkar and Dr Neha Mulla Assistant professors facilitated the conduct of this work shop. Hands on work shop benefitted a total of 30 participants.
  • Postgraduate students of Department of OBG Physiotherapy participated in the First Annual International Conference By FEMALE PELVIC PAIN ASSOCIATION (FEPPA) In association with SAFUG (South Asian Federation of Urogynecology) & Urogynecology Committe AOGD (Association of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists of Delhi) on 20th & 21st, April 2024 @Medanta-The Medicity Hospital, Gurugram, Haryana. Dr.Zankhana Parikh won First place in Quiz Competition and Dr.Vaishnavi Kokate won Second place for Best Paper presentation.
  • The Gender Equality Cell of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy conducted an Inter-College short flim competition on the occasion of “International lesbian visibility Day” on 30 April 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m at KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy. A total of 20 students actively participated in the event. The judge for the competition was Mr.Pranam Rane who is an actor and director.The event was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Sanjiv Kumar – Principal, and Dr. Nikita Pawar – Nodal teacher, Gender Equality Cell, KIPT. The nodal teacher, both the gender champions and members of the gender equality cell were present for the event.   • The Alumni Association of KLE Institute of Physiotherapy organized an alumni webinar on 30/04/2024, by Dr. Satyam Bhodaji, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Geriatric Physiotherapy, KVV Krishna College of Physiotherapy, Karad, Maharashtra. The webinar delved into the topic of “The Biopsychosocial Model of Physiotherapy (Indian Perspective).”
  • The Department of Community Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi is conducting Rural visits to Mutaga Village from May 2nd 2024 to 31st may 2024. Under this programme : Today the ASHA healthcare workers were oriented to” Physiotherapy and its benefits in various conditions”. Patients were provided Physiotherapy treatment at minimal charges through the Mobile Physiotherapy Van.
  • The 61st Annual Conference of Indian Association of Physiotherapists was held at Dehradun from 8th to 10th  March 2024.KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi has left its significant mark in this conference.Dr.Ganesh B.R,Dr.Santosh Metgud were awarded with prestigious Fellowships and Dr. Basavaraj Motimath was awarded the IAP significant Contribution Award 2024.Dr Santosh Metgud and Dr.Basavaraj Motimath were also awarded the second and Third places respectively for Best Platform presentation in senior Category.
  • The Society of Indian Physiotherapists organised its 8th Annual Conference at Chandigarh from 8th to 10th  March 2024. Dr.Deepa Metgud,Dr Renu Pattanshetty and Dr Anand Heggannavvar were the  chairpersons for this conference.
  • KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Institutional Career Guidance and Placement Cell had organized a campus placement interview on 16th March from 10am  to 1pm for the regular intern’s batch. The placement was offered by Physiomed, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation clinic, Panjim, Goa. The interview was held through online mode and 15 interns appeared for the interview.
 
  • Basavaraj Motimath was invited as a Guest speaker on “sports Injuries” at Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasark Mandal ,Barshi,Solapur on 16th March 2024.
 
  • Postgraduates of KAHER Institute of physiotherapy performed “classical dance Khatak “ for the Inagural Function of renovated 1200 Seater B.S.Jirge Auditorium on 18th March 2024
 
  • Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy organized a programme for interns  to create and motivate innovative and start up skills ,based on the personal experience of Dr.Karthik Shah, founder and trainer In2Canada ,on 20th  March  Dr.Karthik Highlighted the Importance of Network building, entrepreneurship and latest development in Physiotherapy in Canada. Total of 80 Interns and 6 staff were benefitted from  this programme.
  • Department of Community Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation,KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi Organised a Guest Lecture on “Ergonomics in Teachers” for the Faculty of KLS School,Bhagyanagar,Belagavi.Dr Vijayalaxmi Kanabur, Assistant professor delivered the lecture . Importance of ergonomics for teachers and the preventive exercises for common WRMSD were discussed.Principal Mrs Nandini and Mrs Sarika and 35 other faculty were present for the lecture.
  • The Department of Pediatric Physiotherapy, KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, organized a vibrant celebration to mark World Down Syndrome Day on 21st March, 2024 at Mahatma Phule Park, Bhudwar Peth, Tilakwadi, Belagavi.
  • The event included various activities like Coloring, ‘Rock Your Socks’ Campaign, where children were adorned with mismatched socks, symbolizing the uniqueness of individual chromosomes.
Parents gathered for an enlightening session focusing on Down syndrome, its characteristics, challenges, and achievements of children with Down syndrome. Information about available schemes and facilities for disabilities was also provided. Nearly 30 children actively participated in the event. 3 Staff members ,11 postgraduates and 4 interns volunteered for the event.Faculty also delivered a awareness talk about down syndrome on Venudhwani 90.4.
  • KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi organised a Oath taking ceremony”Astodaya-2024″ for the Batch of 2019.Dr.R S Mudhol,vice chancellor BLDEA University, Vijayapura was the chief guest and Annamalai,Chancellor Gandhigram Rural University delivered the professional oath to the graduates.Dr.Nitin Gangane vice chancellor KAHER presided the function and Dr.V.S.Sadhunnavvar,Board member KLE Society;Dr M.V.Jali MD KLE Cancer hospital were the Guest of Honour.
  • Postgraduate students of Department of OBG Physiotherapy participated in the National Conference on “Fostering Innovation in Midwifery: Moving forward in maternal & Newborn Care” by KAHER INS in association with SOMI and TNAI (KSB) on 22 and 23 March 2024.Dr.Shrishti Nayak won 1st place, Dr.Vrinda Desai and Dr Sona Yanghi Hurtigkarl won 2nd place.Dr Arati Mahishale HOD Department of OBG Physiotherapy was invited as Distinguished speaker.
  • A UDEHP workshop was conducted on “Choice Based Credit System” on 28th March 2024 organized by KLE Institution of Physiotherapy. Dr. Ramesh Kumar Jeyaraman, Professor, Department of Physiotherapy, Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education was the resource person for the workshop.Calculation of credit points,grade points ,cgpa and sgpa were the area of focus on this workshop. There were 31 participants in this workshop and they provided positive feedback for the workshop and all the sessions were very informative.


  • Department of Biomechanics conducted a workshop on “Movement Analysis” on January 29 and 30 2024,featuring expert speakers Rohit Panicker sports Scientist and founder of Swat Kids Application for motion analysis and Dr.Nebeela naaz Bio-mechanist and co-founder Swat Kids Application for motion analysis.
  • The extra mural Committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi organised a poster making competition on the Tagline “Eve of World Cancer Day”.All the constituent Units of KAHER were invited to be the part of this Competition.
  • KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy conducted it’s annual Athletic Meet “ADVAYA-2024” on 5th of February 2024 at the District Stadium,Belagavi.Shri. B Srinivas, Deputy Director,District youth services and sports,Belagavi was the chief guest for the event and The Guests of honour were Ms Simran Gaundal (Para-Olympic swimmer) And Ms.Tanishka Kalbhairav (international table tennis player) . Principal Dr.Sanjiv Kumar delivered the Presidential Remarks.Dean Faculty of Physiotherapy Dr.Deepa Metgud,Vice Principal Dr.Vijay Kage and all Faculty of Physiotherapy were present for the Event.All the students participated in various Events.
  • Kles Institute of physiotherapy, under the Department of Neuro Physiotherapy organised a free physiotherapy treatment camp at kadolli village on 9th Feb 2024.A total of 93 patients were screened and 30 patients were treated for various ailments.
  • The KLE Institute of Physiotherapy’s Club Committee started a Reader’s Club as a monthly event on 12 Feb 2024.
  • The Department of Geriatric Physiotherapy organized a guest lecture on Diabetes Mellitus in Elderly on 13th February 2024. This lecture was delivered by Dr. Jayaprakash Appajigol from department of General Medicine, J.N. Medical College, Belagavi. This lecture highlighted impact of diabetes mellitus on the life of older adults, its challenges and considerations for management. 50 post graduates were benefitted through this lecture.
  • Department of CVTS Physiotherapy of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi on 27,28 February 2024 organised a Guest Lecture and Hands on Workshop Series for the Staff, Postgraduate and PhD Scholars on” Research and Entrepreneurship “,”Airway Management in Phase 1 Cardiac Rehabilitation “,”Exercise Testing”.The Resource person was Dr.Arun Maiyya, Professor and Dean at MAHE,Manipal. 30 Staff and a total of 180 PhD Scholars,PG’s and Interns were benefitted.
  • KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy,Belgaum organised its Annual Day “ADVAYA 2024” on 2nd March 2024.The Chief Guest for the event was Mr.Vikash Kumar Vikash,IG Northern Range,Belagavi.Dr.(Prof) Nitin Gangane,Honourable Vice-Chancellor,presided over the event. The Guest of Honour for the event was Dr.Ali Irani,Physiotherapist Nanavati Max Hospital,Mumbai,Dr.V.S.Sadhunavvar ,Registrar Dr.M.S.Ganachari ,MD Dr.(Col) M.Dayananda.Principal Dr.Sanjiv Kumar Presented the annual report.The Annual Magazine “DISHA 2024” and Alumni Newsletter “ROOTS 2024″was released by the dignitaries.The Alumni Association Provided the scholarship of Rs15,000 to the Meritorious children of our Non Teaching staff.The Cultural Committee organised the Interclass Dance,Skit and Fashion Show Competitions.The Staff,Students and Parents Actively Participated in this event successfully.
  • KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy,Belagavi organised its Annual Day “ADVAYA 2024” on 2nd March 2024.The Annual Gathering Included the following Programmes:1)PTA Meet from 9am to 1pm which included Guest lecture by Dr.Yasmin Nadaf,Physical Fitness testing for Parents,Parents teachers interaction.2)Rangoli,Vegetable carving and mocktail making,Face Painting,Best of Waste Making Competitions for the students by the Club Committee at the auditorium from 9am -1pm.
  • Department of Physiotherapy Education organized a Faculty development Programme on “Elevating Your Teaching Standards” on5th March 2024 from 10 am to 1pm in the Silver Jubilee Room.Mr.srinivas Balaraju,Founder and CEO of SMART SUTRA,Training Institute for soft Skills and competitive exams,Belagavi was the resource Person.The Programme covered topics such as effective communication,effective planning and positive mental attitude.
  • The institute recently conducted a successful 12 day student exchange programme with the students of University of Wisconsin,LaCrosse,USA from 8th January 2024 to 20 january 2024.
  • The Department of OBG Physiotherapy conducted a 2 day workshop on “Prebirth And Care” by Dr.Sudhini Borkar.
  • The department of oncology Physiotherapy conducted a Value added course on “Introduction to Lymphedema Management” from 18th to 20th January 2024.Resource Person were Dr.Renu Pattanshetty and Dr.Nikita Pawar.
  • A Poetry Competition was organized by the Gender Equality Cell of Institute on 24th January 2024 on the occasion of “National Girl Child Day”.
  • An “Inter-Class Elocution Competition” was organized by the Literary and Education Committee of the Institute on the occasion of “International Day of Education” on 24th January 2024.
