KLE Institute of Physiotherapy located in Belgaum and catering physiotherapy education and services since 1994, is one of the premier Institute in the field of Physiotherapy.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy Course of 4 ½ years was started in 1994 at K.L.E.S. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum under Department of Physiotherapy affiliated to Karnataka University Dharwad. In 1997 it got affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.

It is the first Institute to start Master of Physiotherapy program in the year 2000 under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The Department of Physiotherapy emerged as an independent Institute in 2004 and today is well known as “K.L.E. Institue Of Physiotherapy”, Belgaum.

Recent Highlights

•The Gender Equality Cell of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy hosted an engaging interclass short film competition on January 30th, in celebration of National Girl Child Day. The theme of the competition, “Reverse Gender Stereotype,” encouraged students to challenge and break conventional gender roles through their creative films.The competition saw enthusiastic participation from undergraduate students, with a total of 8 teams of 47 number of participants.

•”Proud Moment for KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, and KAHER Belagavi! Our Alumnus Dr Neha Tipnis Karnik served as the physiotherapist for the victorious India U19 Women’s Cricket Team at the ICC under 19 women’s T20 World Cup 2025 Malayasia. Her expertise contributed to the team’s outstanding performance and success. Congratulations to Dr Neha Tipnis Karnik and Team India!”



•We are proud to share that Dr. Sanjiv Kumar, Principal of KIPT Belagavi, contributed as a Resource Person at the ICPT Neuro Confluence 2025, held on January 25th-26th at Terna Auditorium, Navi Mumbai. His engaging talk on “Coma is not Full Stop” sparked insightful discussions, shedding light on the significance of coma awareness.Dr. Kumar also participated in a thought-provoking panel discussion on “Bridging the Gap: Integrating AI, Robotic, and VR Technologies into Existing Rehabilitation Practices”, bringing fresh perspectives on the future of rehabilitation technologies.



•KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Department of Pediatric Physiotherapy organized guest lecture on “Orthopaedic Approaches to Common Neuromuscular Conditions among Children” by Dr. Naveen Kumar Patil on 28th january 2025. The session covered conditions like cerebral palsy, brachial plexus and spinal dysraphism, with emphasis on early diagnosis, multidisciplinary care, and tailored orthopaedic and physiotherapy interventions such as gait analysis, tendon surgeries, and posture correction. Recent advancements, including robotic surgery, were also discussed. Dr. Patil highlighted the importance of individualized care, assistive devices, and regular follow-ups in improving patient outcomes. Total of 40 postgraduate students were benefitted from the lecture. The program was organised by under the guidance of Dr.Sanjiv Kumar, Principal, Dr. Deepa Metgud, Head of department and the other faculty members of Peadiatric Physiotherapy.



•Celebrating the 76th Republic Day with pride and creativity! in our college took on the responsibility of decorating the venue for this special occasion, and our students did an amazing job bringing the theme “Golden India Heritage and Progress” to life



•A free “Physical Fitness & Musculoskeletal Assessment and Treatment Health Check-Up Camp” was organized by the Department of Orthopedic Physiotherapy, KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Belgaum Elite (District 3170). This two-day camp was held on January 24th and 25th, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Shree Chidambar, Rajaram, and Pandurang Maharaj Samadhi Mandir, Mahatma Phule Road, Shahapur, Belagavi. The primary motive of the camp was to offer free health check-ups that focused on overall physical fitness, with particular emphasis on musculoskeletal health. A detailed evaluation of each participant’s body mass index (BMI), fat mass, muscle mass, and other related parameters was conducted. These assessments helped identify individuals’ physical condition, providing valuable insight into areas that needed improvement. Additionally, participants with musculoskeletal complaints or issues received personalized evaluations, and expert advice was given regarding appropriate treatments and preventive measures to improve their overall musculoskeletal health. Approximately 150 individuals benefited from the camp, receiving valuable insights into their physical health.



•On January 24, 2025, the Department of Community Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, organized an industrial visit to Technomed Electronics in Perungudi, Chennai. The visit provided students with an opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the manufacturing and assembling processes of various electrotherapy modalities. During the visit, the students were oriented on the working principles of these advanced therapeutic devices, and they also had hands-on experience with the equipment. Key highlights included exposure to cutting-edge technologies such as the Robo Spine, Scanning Therapeutic Laser, and Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, which are among the latest innovations in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. The visit was a valuable learning experience, allowing students to deepen their understanding of modern therapeutic tools and their application in clinical practice.



•The extramural committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy organized a Poetry Competition to celebrate NATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY on 22nd of JANUARY 2025 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. The theme for the competition was “NATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY” Dr.Peeyosha Gurudut ma’am and Dr.Ashwini Bulbuli ma’am were the judges for the event. The participants took efforts to showcase their excellent skills. The event was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Sanjiv Kumar Principal, and Dr.Nikita Pawar Incharge Extramural committee KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy. A total of 12 student participated in the event.



•Department of Oncology Physiotherapy of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy was invited to give a talk on “cervical caner awareness” in KLE society’s College of Business Administration and KLE society’s College of Education on 24th of January 2025 for women students and faculties. All the post graduate students from the oncology physiotherapy department along with Dr. Sayali Patil delivered talk on cervical cancer risk factors, signs and symptoms and prevention strategies followed by question and answer session. Total of 98 women participated actively, appreciated the event and found it informative.



•KLE Institute of Physiotherapy has celebrated Lingaraj Jayanti on 10/01/2025. Dr Basavaraj Jagampi, retire Principal of Lingaraj college was the chief Guest for the function, and delivered the lecture on Sirsangi lingaraj life history and about his sacrifice and donation made by him to the community. On this occasion Dr Basavaraj Jagampi was felicitated. All the faculty and students attended the function. The function was organized by Kannada and cultural committee.

•On 10th January 2025, the Department of OBG Physiotherapy at KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy conducted an ‘Anaemia Screening Camp’ for the female teaching and non-teaching staff of KAHER’s Shri BM Kankanawadi Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya in Belagavi, Karnataka. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about anaemia and promote early detection and intervention. A total of 51 females participated in the camp by providing blood samples for screening. The camp was well-received and appreciated by all the beneficiaries, highlighting the importance of health initiatives for postpartum women in the community. The successful organization of this event reflects the institute’s commitment to enhancing the overall well-being of its staff and creating a health-conscious environment.

•KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy department Sports physiotherapy organized a Awareness talk on injury prevention and management for runners of all categories on Saturday 10/01/2025 Dr Basavaraj Motimath HOD Dept of Sports physiotherapy delivered a talk on injury prevention and management highlighting importance on warm up ,cool down and recovery strategies which would aid in injury prevention and management

•On January 10, 2025, KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi, in collaboration with the Skill Lab at JNMC, organized a Basic Life Support (BLS) workshop for the 2024-25 batch of interns. The event took place from 9 am to 5 pm at the KAHER Simulation Centre, JNMC. The workshop aimed to equip interns with essential life-saving skills, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of BLS protocols. Participants received both theoretical instruction and hands-on training, ensuring practical application of the concepts taught. To assess the interns’ knowledge, a pre- and post-assessment was conducted. A total of 40 interns actively participated and benefited from the session, enhancing their preparedness to handle emergency situations effectively

•On January 13, 2025, the Department of Community Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, conducted a successful medical health check-up camp for the students of Sri Shivalingeshwar Pre-primary and Primary School, Balekundri KH, catering to students from nursery to 7th standard. A total of 153 students participated in the camp, where they were assessed for various health parameters, including height, weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), and physical fitness. This initiative aimed to monitor the overall health and well-being of the children, ensuring early identification of any potential health issues and promoting awareness about physical fitness.

•The Kannada Balaga Committee organized a vibrant Kite Making Competition on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, celebrated on 13th January 2025. The event, which aimed to preserve and promote cultural traditions while fostering creativity among students, witnessed enthusiastic participation from 16 participants.The competition began with a brief introduction to the significance of kite flying during Makar Sankranti, emphasizing its cultural and recreational importance. Participants, armed with their materials and innovative ideas, showcased their creativity by designing colorful and artistic kites. The designs reflected a variety of themes, from traditional motifs to modern, abstract patterns.The Kannada Balaga Committee’s efforts was to blend tradition with creativity, making the occasion of Makar Sankranti truly memorable.

On the occasion of “National Youth Day ” 15th January 2025, the KAHER’s NSS Unit-05 of KLE Institute of Physiotherapy organized a guest lecture on “Substance Abuse (Drug & Alcohol)” for the 1st and 2nd Year BPT students. The session, was conducted by Dr. K.S. Gurudut, the Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at BIMS. Dr. Gurudut provided valuable insights into the impact of substance abuse on individuals and society, highlighting the medical, psychological, and social consequences of drug and alcohol addiction. The lecture aimed to raise awareness and educate students on the importance of prevention and early intervention in combating substance abuse. All students attended the session, which was both informative and thought-provoking. Total of 187 students were benefitted from the lecture.The event was successfully coordinated by Unit 5 NSS programme officer Dr Santosh Metgud,NSS camp officer Dr.R.V.Dharwadkar.
