KLE Institute of Physiotherapy located in Belgaum and catering physiotherapy education and services since 1994, is one of the premier Institute in the field of Physiotherapy.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy Course of 4 ½ years was started in 1994 at K.L.E.S. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum under Department of Physiotherapy affiliated to Karnataka University Dharwad. In 1997 it got affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.

It is the first Institute to start Master of Physiotherapy program in the year 2000 under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The Department of Physiotherapy emerged as an independent Institute in 2004 and today is well known as “K.L.E. Institue Of Physiotherapy”, Belgaum.

Recent Highlights

• On the occasion of 77th Birthday of Honourable Chairman Dr.Prabhakar Kore Sir, Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi Commissioned it’s new Community Physiotherapy Bus. The Inauguration was done by honourabke Vice Chancellor Dr.Nitin Gangane sir and Registrar Dr.M S Ganachari Sir.The bus has a state of art technology with provision for treatment of 3 patients at a time, special area for pediatrics therapy,Ramps,Pantry,sanitary facility.All the staff and students of the Institute participated in this event.

• The Extramural Committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy distributed fruit packets and saplings as “Trees of Hope” to cancer patients in the KLE’s Belgaum Cancer Hospital, on 1st August 2024 on the occasion of Hon. Chancellor Dr. Prabhakar Kore Sir’s 77th Birthday.

• On occasion of 77th Birthday of Honourable Chairman Dr Prabhakar Kore Sir, KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi Conducted distribution of fruit baskets for the inmates of Shantai Vriddhashram,Sanjeevni Foundation,Ankur school for disabled children.

• On the occasion of 77th Birthday of Honourable Chairman Dr Prabhakar Kore sir the Cultural committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi Conducted a skit play on “Cultural Heritage of Belagavi”for the Freshers Students of BPT first year 2024-25 batch.The play included instances depicting college code of conduct and Belagavi life.

• Induction of new batch of students for BPT programme “Deeksharambh 2024” was started which included the display of Video on “Biopic of Dr.Prabhakar Kore” followed by sensitisation to the clinical, academic and mentorship programmes to the Parents and Students of Fresher’s Batch of BPT 1 2024-25 batch.

• The Department of Pediatric Physiotherapy successfully conducted a screening camp for blind swimmers on August 1st, 2024, at the JNMC Swimming Pool. This event was organized to commemorate the 77th birthday of Hon. Chancellor Dr. Prabhakar Kore sir. The event was carried under the guidance of Dr. Deepa Metgud, HOD of Pediatric Physiotherapy. 24 swimmers were assessed for their balance and Gross motor abilities.

• On August 1, 2024, the Department of Sports Physiotherapy successfully organized a Fitness Screening Camp exclusively for wheelchair athletes. This event was held in celebration of Hon. Chancellor Dr. Prabhakar Kore’s 77th birthday.A total of 12 wheelchair athletes attended the fitness screening camp. The participants were provided with comprehensive evaluations to assess their physical fitness levels, including assessments of strength, flexibility, endurance, and overall health.

• The Department of Sports Physiotherapy successfully organized a Fitness Screening Camp for blind swimmers on the 1st of August, 2024. The event was held at the Suvarna JNMC swimming pool in Belagavi, coinciding with the 77th birthday celebration of the Hon. Chancellor, Dr. Prabhakar Kore.A total of 24 blind swimmers participated in the camp.

• On occasion of 77th Birthday of Honorable Chairman Dr. Prabhakar Kore Sir, the NSS unit 5 of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi organized the following Events at the adopted village of Islampur. 1. Donation to sports kit to islampur government high school 2.Donation of Marching Drill set to islampur government high school 3.Donation of Water Filter to Government High school Islampur. 4. Talk on Dengue awareness to primary school students 5.Rally by primary school students of Islampur government school on Dengue awareness 6.Fumigation by Bleaching powder to prevent dengue at the school and health center premises. 7.Cake cutting ceremony by the Primary school students of Islampur government school.

• On the occasion of *International youth day* on 12th August 2024, KAHER NSS unit 05 administered *PLEDGE* for the new 96 NSS volunteers about *Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhyan,” Viksit Bharat Ka Mantra, Bharat ho Nashe Seh Swatantra”*.

• *Induction programme for new volunteers* On 12th August 2024,KAHER NSS unit 05 of Kles Institute of physiotherapy conducted an Induction programme for new NSS Volunteers. A total of 96 students took the NSS oath along with 2 teaching staff.

• *Awareness talk on NASHA MUKT BHARAT* Government of India under the banner of Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhyan,” Viksit Bharat Ka Mantra, Bharat ho Nashe Seh Swatantra” On this event Honorable Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr Verendra Kumar gave awareness talk against drugs in the campus of Modern School, Barakhamba Road New Delhi. Which was live telecasted. During this live telecast 96 Nss volunteers along with 2 staff from NSS unit 05 of KLES Institute Of Physiotherapy attended the talk.

• On the occasion of *WORLD ORGAN DONATION DAY* on 13th August 2024, KAHERS NSS unit 05 of KLEs Institute of physiotherapy conducted street play on *AWARENESS ON ORGAN DONATION* at Central Bus Stand and Railway station. 25 volunteers participated along with 2 teaching staff.

• KAHERs Institute of physiotherapy NSS unit 05 conducted pledge on *SADBHAVANA DIWAS* on 20/8/2024. 85 NSS volunteers along with Program and camp officer were present during the event.

• A Prototype “Turnbuckle Osteoarthritis Knee Brace With Sensor Based Assessment Of Forces ” by Dr Vijay Kage, Dr Peeyoosha Gurudatt, Dr Aarti Welling from Department of Orthopaedic Physiotherapy was selected among the Top ten innovations from the various Presentations at KLE MEDTECH HACKETHON organised by KAHER Incubation centre on 30th October 2024. Principal Dr.Sanjiv Kumar and all the faculty members extend a hearty congratulations to the team and all the participants of the event.

• KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, Department of Physiotherapy Education, organised a 1 day Workshop for non teaching faculty of the constituent Units of KAHER on the topic “Work Etiquettes, Ethics and Values” on 6th July 2024. Mr.Chaitanya Halgaekar,Free lance Public Speaking Coach and communication trainer from Belagavi was the Resource Person for the workshop.The Workshop Included importance of work place etiquettes and significance, strategies to maintain the Good work ethics and values. Interactive sessions, Group Activities and discussions with real life situations related to work ethics were conducted.A Total of 20 Participants actively participated and benefitted from this workshop.

• The Alumni Association conducted a webinar talk on topic “Overview of Physiotherapy in UK on 12 July 2024. Dr. Priya Shinde (PT) Rgional lead in the NHS UK, who is an esteemed alumni of KIPT, delivered the talk to 2nd MPT and Intern students.

• Department of Sports Physiotherapy , KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi Conducted a Screening camp for Kabadi men n women Screening camp for Kabadi men n women.A total of 50 men n women who have participated in state and national level tournaments at Jai Mahakali sports academy, chinchali, Belagavi district.The players were assessed for various fitness components.A total of 50 men n women participants were screened by the Postgraduate students of the department under the guidance and supervision of Dr Basavaraj Motimath,HOD and Dr Dhaval Chivate, Assistant Professor Department of sports physiotherapy.

• The Department of Pediatric Physiotherapy at KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy organized a comprehensive workshop focusing on the Assessment of Children with Neurodevelopmental Conditions on 20th and 21st July 2024. The workshop featured Mrs. Keertisudha as the resource person, who is a renowned rehabilitation psychologist and the CEO of Kaizen Institute of Mental Health and Disability Rehabilitation. The inauguration ceremony was held on 20th July to mark the commencement of the workshop. Dr. Sanjiv Kumar, Principal of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, and Dr. Deepa Metgud, Head of the Department of Pediatric Physiotherapy, graced the occasion with their presence. The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance the understanding and proficiency of the faculty members and students in the assessment tools used for screening and diagnosing children with conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Tools such as Indian Scale for Assessment of Autism (ISAA), Indian INCLEN Diagnostic Tool for ASD, Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M-CHAT) and others were discussed in detail. Practical insights were provided through case studies. A total of 33 participants, including faculty members, postgraduates, interns and undergraduate students got benefitted from the workshop.
