KLE Institute of Physiotherapy located in Belgaum and catering physiotherapy education and services since 1994, is one of the premier Institute in the field of Physiotherapy.
Bachelor of Physiotherapy Course of 4 ½ years was started in 1994 at K.L.E.S. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum under Department of Physiotherapy affiliated to Karnataka University Dharwad. In 1997 it got affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
It is the first Institute to start Master of Physiotherapy program in the year 2000 under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The Department of Physiotherapy emerged as an independent Institute in 2004 and today is well known as “K.L.E. Institue Of Physiotherapy”, Belgaum.
KLEU Institute is the leading Physiotherapy Institute in India. In short span of 28 years, the Institute has grown in all dimensions.Serving the society is our motto and hence extending the Physiotherapy services through many peripheral centers. December 2024 highlights as Follows:
• Observance of International Day of Persons with Disabilities:
On December 3, 2024, KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, marked the **International Day of Persons with Disabilities** with a series of engaging and impactful events aimed at fostering awareness, inclusivity, and community engagement.
1. Placard Making Competition:– Organized by the Literary and Education Committee for BPT students.– A total of 13 students participated actively.
2. Pamphlet Making Competition:– Organized by the Extramural Committee where total of 10 students showcased their creativity.
3. Disability Evaluation Lecture for ASHA Workers: – Organized by the Department of Community Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation for ASHA workers from the MUTAGA PHC, Belagavi. Focused on disability types, the PWD Act (1996), and practical evaluation techniques. – Hands-on training was provided to 5 ASHA workers, empowering them to evaluate disabilities in their communities.
4. Awareness Lecture at Kannada Higher Primary School: – Conducted by the Cultural Committee for 120 students at Balekundri BK. Included a pre- and post-lecture questionnaire to evaluate knowledge improvement.Focused on understanding disability and responsibilities toward disabled individuals.5. Bookmark Making Competition:– Organized by the Reader’s Club Committee where 10 students participated actively.
•NSS Activities1. Health Initiatives:– Free Physiotherapy Treatment and Free Dermatology Consultation for community members.– Surveys conducted on:– Fall risk assessment.– Awareness and knowledge of cancer in the community.– Quality of life at the community level.– Menstrual hygiene awareness.
2. Awareness Programs:– Waste management awareness.– Information on hospital schemes for students.
3. Tree Plantation:– A tree plantation drive to promote environmental sustainability.
4. School Engagement Activities:– Quiz and Dance Games for school students, fostering interactive learning and entertainment.
•The Gender equality cell of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy had organized a debate competition for UG and PG students on 17th December 2024. The topic for the debate was “Do you feel that women are suited for every job a man does”. 12 students participated in the competition. Of which, Anoush from BPT-IV won the best speaker for the topic, Kiran Gandhi from BOT won the best speaker against the topic and BPT-III years were awarded as the best team. Dr. VarunNaik and Dr. Nikita Pawar were the judges. The competition was judged by Dr. VarunNaik, Associate Professor and Dr. Nikita Pawar, Assistant Professor. The event was co-ordinated by Dr. Aarti Welling, Incharge Gender Equality Cell and Dr. AnjanaJavali, member, Gender Equality Cell.
•The Department of Orthopaedic Physiotherapy organised a Musculoskeletal Screening and Treatment Camp at Jain BBA and BCA College on 20th December 2024 for both students and faculty members. The camp was conducted in collaboration with the Red Cross Wing of Jain BBA and BCA College and was supported by Mr. Rajesh Prabhu, the Vice Principal of the college. The primary objective of the camp was to raise awareness about musculoskeletal health, particularly focusing on the prevention and early detection of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) such as back pain, headache, neck pain, joint issues and posture-related problems, which are increasingly common among students and staff due to sedentary lifestyles and prolonged screen time. The camp aimed to screen participants for potential musculoskeletal conditions, provide preventive education on posture correction and ergonomics, offer initial treatments for any identified issues, and promote healthier lifestyle habits to avoid long-term musculoskeletal complications. Based on these assessments, they received personalized treatment plans, which included exercises, posture correction exercises, and tips for daily physical activity. A total of 84 students and 20 faculty members benefited with the program. The faculty of Dept. of Orthopaedic Physiotherapy, along with postgraduates and interns actively participated and provided services during the camp.
•Vinaya B. Powar, a student of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, traveled from BelgaumtoKaraikudi, Tamil Nadu, on 27th November. She participated in kabaddi matches hosted by AlagappaUniversity , which were held from 29th November to 1st December. Over the course of three days, Vinaya had the opportunity to compete and represent her institute in a well-organized and enriching event.

•The KAHER Institute’s Department of Sports Physiotherapy participated in the NippaniRasai Hill Marathon (NRHM)by providing essential post-event care. As assessments, injury management, and active recovery techniques to aid the 168 marathon participants in their post-race recovery and advice on how to prevent and manage injuries, ensuring the participants were well-prepared for recovery following the intense physical exertion. Participants appreciated the efforts put in by physiotherapist in aiding the care.
•The KAHER Institute’s Department of Sports Physiotherapy was invited to Bailhongal by MaaBharatiSeva Foundation to support the marathon participants with injury management and active recovery techniques. The team provided essential services such as injury assessments, muscle relaxation, stretching exercises, and guidance on proper recovery practices. These activities helped participants recover effectively from the physical strain of the marathon. Participants appreciated the efforts put in by physiotherapist in aiding the care.
•The KAHER University KLE Institute of Physiotherapy Department of Sports Physiotherapy were invited for the 1st Belagavi Hill Survival Challenge by offering comprehensive pre- and post-event care. This included injury assessments, management, and active recovery techniques, ensuring that 50 participants received optimal care for post-race recovery. Additionally, participants were guided through effective warm-up drills before the race to prepare them for the physical demands ahead. These preventive measures, combined with targeted recovery strategies, were highly appreciated by participants, who acknowledged the team’s efforts in supporting their performance and well-being throughout the event.
•Alumni Association of KLE Institute of Physiotherapy organized Alumni Meet for the batch 1996 on Friday, 27th Dec 2024 in Silver jubilee hall. The guests and facilities included Dr. H. B. Rajshekhar, Director, USM KLE, Dr.B.B. Putti, Ex Professor, Dept. of Orthopedic JNMC & Mr. S. B. Desai, Ex- Faculty of Medical Electronics of KIPT. The Non-teaching faculty MrMuttannagulappagol and MrBasavarajMunvalli were also felicitated. 19 Alumni attended the function. The event was successfully organized by the office bearers of the alumni association Dr. Anil Muragod, Dr. PeeyooshaGurudut and VarunNaik. Of Alumni association.
•Alumni Association organized a guest lecture on “A role of physiotherapy within community based Chronic Pain Management service in UK” on 27th Dec 2024. Dr. Ashish K Khiloshiya, Samuel Johnson Hospital Midlands Partnership University NHS Trust Lichfield, Staffordshire, UK a distinguished 1996 Batch of our institute, delivered the lecture for Interns which was well appreciated.
