KLE Institute of Physiotherapy located in Belgaum and catering physiotherapy education and services since 1994, is one of the premier Institute in the field of Physiotherapy.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy Course of 4 ½ years was started in 1994 at K.L.E.S. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum under Department of Physiotherapy affiliated to Karnataka University Dharwad. In 1997 it got affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.

It is the first Institute to start Master of Physiotherapy program in the year 2000 under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The Department of Physiotherapy emerged as an independent Institute in 2004 and today is well known as “K.L.E. Institue Of Physiotherapy”, Belgaum.

Observance of International Day of Persons with Disabilities:


On December 3, 2024, KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, marked the **International Day of Persons with Disabilities** with a series of engaging and impactful events aimed at fostering awareness, inclusivity, and community engagement.

 

1. Placard Making Competition:
– Organized by the Literary and Education Committee for BPT students.
– A total of 13 students participated actively.

 

2. Pamphlet Making Competition:
– Organized by the Extramural Committee where total of 10 students showcased their creativity.

 

3. Disability Evaluation Lecture for ASHA Workers: – Organized by the Department of Community Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation for ASHA workers from the MUTAGA PHC, Belagavi. Focused on disability types, the PWD Act (1996), and practical evaluation techniques. – Hands-on training was provided to 5 ASHA workers, empowering them to evaluate disabilities in their communities.

4. Awareness Lecture at Kannada Higher Primary School: – Conducted by the Cultural Committee for 120 students at Balekundri BK. Included a pre- and post-lecture questionnaire to evaluate knowledge improvement.Focused on understanding disability and responsibilities toward disabled individuals.
5. Bookmark Making Competition:
– Organized by the Reader’s Club Committee where 10 students participated actively.

 

•NSS Activities
1. Health Initiatives:
– Free Physiotherapy Treatment and Free Dermatology Consultation for community members.
– Surveys conducted on:
– Fall risk assessment.
– Awareness and knowledge of cancer in the community.
– Quality of life at the community level.
– Menstrual hygiene awareness.
 

2. Awareness Programs:
– Waste management awareness.
– Information on hospital schemes for students.
 

3. Tree Plantation:
– A tree plantation drive to promote environmental sustainability.
 

4. School Engagement Activities:
– Quiz and Dance Games for school students, fostering interactive learning and entertainment.

 

•The Gender equality cell of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy had organized a debate competition for UG and PG students on 17th December 2024. The topic for the debate was “Do you feel that women are suited for every job a man does”. 12 students participated in the competition. Of which, Anoush from BPT-IV won the best speaker for the topic, Kiran Gandhi from BOT won the best speaker against the topic and BPT-III years were awarded as the best team. Dr. VarunNaik and Dr. Nikita Pawar were the judges. The competition was judged by Dr. VarunNaik, Associate Professor and Dr. Nikita Pawar, Assistant Professor. The event was co-ordinated by Dr. Aarti Welling, Incharge Gender Equality Cell and Dr. AnjanaJavali, member, Gender Equality Cell.

•The Department of Orthopaedic Physiotherapy organised a Musculoskeletal Screening and Treatment Camp at Jain BBA and BCA College on 20th December 2024 for both students and faculty members. The camp was conducted in collaboration with the Red Cross Wing of Jain BBA and BCA College and was supported by Mr. Rajesh Prabhu, the Vice Principal of the college. The primary objective of the camp was to raise awareness about musculoskeletal health, particularly focusing on the prevention and early detection of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) such as back pain, headache, neck pain, joint issues and posture-related problems, which are increasingly common among students and staff due to sedentary lifestyles and prolonged screen time. The camp aimed to screen participants for potential musculoskeletal conditions, provide preventive education on posture correction and ergonomics, offer initial treatments for any identified issues, and promote healthier lifestyle habits to avoid long-term musculoskeletal complications. Based on these assessments, they received personalized treatment plans, which included exercises, posture correction exercises, and tips for daily physical activity. A total of 84 students and 20 faculty members benefited with the program. The faculty of Dept. of Orthopaedic Physiotherapy, along with postgraduates and interns actively participated and provided services during the camp.


•Vinaya B. Powar, a student of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, traveled from BelgaumtoKaraikudi, Tamil Nadu, on 27th November. She participated in kabaddi matches hosted by AlagappaUniversity , which were held from 29th November to 1st December. Over the course of three days, Vinaya had the opportunity to compete and represent her institute in a well-organized and enriching event.

•The KAHER Institute’s Department of Sports Physiotherapy participated in the NippaniRasai Hill Marathon (NRHM)by providing essential post-event care. As assessments, injury management, and active recovery techniques to aid the 168 marathon participants in their post-race recovery and advice on how to prevent and manage injuries, ensuring the participants were well-prepared for recovery following the intense physical exertion. Participants appreciated the efforts put in by physiotherapist in aiding the care.

 

•The KAHER Institute’s Department of Sports Physiotherapy was invited to Bailhongal by MaaBharatiSeva Foundation to support the marathon participants with injury management and active recovery techniques. The team provided essential services such as injury assessments, muscle relaxation, stretching exercises, and guidance on proper recovery practices. These activities helped participants recover effectively from the physical strain of the marathon. Participants appreciated the efforts put in by physiotherapist in aiding the care.

 

•The KAHER University KLE Institute of Physiotherapy Department of Sports Physiotherapy were invited for the 1st Belagavi Hill Survival Challenge by offering comprehensive pre- and post-event care. This included injury assessments, management, and active recovery techniques, ensuring that 50 participants received optimal care for post-race recovery. Additionally, participants were guided through effective warm-up drills before the race to prepare them for the physical demands ahead. These preventive measures, combined with targeted recovery strategies, were highly appreciated by participants, who acknowledged the team’s efforts in supporting their performance and well-being throughout the event.

 

•Alumni Association of KLE Institute of Physiotherapy organized Alumni Meet for the batch 1996 on Friday, 27th Dec 2024 in Silver jubilee hall. The guests and facilities included Dr. H. B. Rajshekhar, Director, USM KLE, Dr.B.B. Putti, Ex Professor, Dept. of Orthopedic JNMC & Mr. S. B. Desai, Ex- Faculty of Medical Electronics of KIPT. The Non-teaching faculty MrMuttannagulappagol and MrBasavarajMunvalli were also felicitated. 19 Alumni attended the function. The event was successfully organized by the office bearers of the alumni association Dr. Anil Muragod, Dr. PeeyooshaGurudut and VarunNaik. Of Alumni association.

 

•Alumni Association organized a guest lecture on “A role of physiotherapy within community based Chronic Pain Management service in UK” on 27th Dec 2024. Dr. Ashish K Khiloshiya, Samuel Johnson Hospital Midlands Partnership University NHS Trust Lichfield, Staffordshire, UK a distinguished 1996 Batch of our institute, delivered the lecture for Interns which was well appreciated.
 



• The 109th Foundation Day of KLE Society on 13 th November 2024 at KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy was a momentous occasion, celebrating the legacy of the founders and the esteemed Saptarshis. The event was marked by a special ceremony honoring these visionary figures, acknowledging their contributions to the fields of health, education, and service. This celebration highlighted KLE Society’s ongoing commitment to excellence, fostering an environment of learning, healthcare, and community service for generations to come. • On the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day, the Department of Oncology Physiotherapy, KLE Institute ofPhysiotherapy organized a special event on 07/11/2024 which aimed at raising awareness about the varioustypes of cancer and the importance of early detection, prevention, and rehabilitation. The event brought togetherpostgraduate students, who showcased their understanding and commitment to the cause by creatinginformative and visually engaging e-posters on different types of cancer. • KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, takes the win! Proud to have clinched the General Championship at the Humbo Intercollegiate Athletic Meet 2024. Hard work, dedication, and team spirit all the way! • “A Transvaginal and Transrectal Rehabilitation Workshop was organized on November 23rd and 24th by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Physiotherapy. The hands-on workshop focused on pelvic rehabilitation techniques, and was led by Dr. Dhara Shah, an expert from WoW IIPRE, the Institute of Pelvic Rehabilitation in Ahmedabad.” • We are proud to announce the remarkable achievements of our postgraduate students at the 15th Scientifica National Physiotherapy Conference held in Goa on November 16-17, 2024! Dr. AnuradhaParamshetti secured 1st place in the PG CVRS category paper presentation! Dr. Govind Sharma, Dr. Raksha P, and Dr. Simran Aga won 2nd place in the PG Sports, Community, and MSK paper presentation category!A big shoutout to Dr. VarunNaik, Associate Professor, Department of CVTS Physiotherapy, for being a guest speaker and judge at the event!KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi is proud of our winners and their hard work! • A proud moment for KIPT, Belagavi! Dr. DeepaMetgud, Professor & HOD of the Department of Pediatrics Physiotherapy, has successfully presented her poster at the 50th Annual Pediatrics Conference of APTA in Providence, Rhode Island! Congratulations to Dr. Metgud and the Thomas JefersonUniversity , Philadelphia collaborators for this remarkable achievement! • The Extramural and literary and education committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy organized a Photography Competition to celebrate WORLD TOURISM DAY on 28th of November 2024 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. The theme for the competition was “PLACES YOU VISITED” Dr. SibaniPriyadarsini and Dr.RitikeshPattanaik were the judges for the event. The participants took efforts to showcase their excellent skills. The event was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Sanjiv Kumar Principal, and Dr. Nikita Pawar Incharge Extramural committee KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy. A total of 12 student participated in the event Winners- 1″ Place-Subhangkomarpant 2nd Place-Rajveersingh. • The Department of Biomechanics at KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy organized a one-day workshop on “Running Analysis” on 29th November 2024, for the intern batch comprising 34 participants. The workshop, conducted from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, provided a comprehensive understanding of running biomechanics, identify abnormalities in running mechanics, evaluation of the footwear, and introduce corrective measures. Dr. SaloniSaraf served as the resource person for the event. • The Department of Neurophysiotherapy of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy conducted a camp in Vadgaon on 30/11/2024. Dr. RajeshwariPatil, Taluka Health Officer, Vadgaon, graced the occasion. A total of 21 patients were benefitted by the same. • 5-Day Hands-On Training Workshops: Empowering Fitness Professionals! From 24th to 28th November 2024, the Dept. of Orthopedic Physiotherapy, KIPT hosted a series of hands-on training workshops focusing on:Basic& Advanced Pilates Instructor TrainingAerobics Instructor TrainingDiet & Nutrition Training.The workshops were led by Dr. SurajeetChakrabarty, MPT, PhD, with over 25 years of experience and the President and Founder of the Indian Academy of Fitness Training. Dr. Chakrabarty, who has trained over 8000 fitness trainers, guided 66 participants through practical, in-depth sessions.The event was highly appreciated by all participants. The Valedictory function was graced by Dr. Col. M Dayanand, Medical Director at KLE Dr. PK Hospital & MRC, as the chief guest. • The Department of Physiotherapy education in collaboration with the Curriculum Committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi organised an “Orientation programme on OSCE/OSPE” for the newly recruited staff of the institute on 3rd September 2024 from 11:30am to 1pm.The resource person for the programme was Dr. Vasanti Jirge, Professor of Dentistry and Coordinator University department of education for health Professionals, KAHER, Belagavi. The programme covered several topics related to learning Domains, Conceptual framework, OSPE/OSCE designs their reliability, validity and standard operating procedures and the threats to these validity. Dr. Vasanti also orientated the participants on different grading systems used in OSCE and OSPE like dichotomous, global rating scale and rubric grading system. This was followed by practical demonstration on setup of OSCE/OSPE circuit. Dr. Peeyoosha G., Incharge Curriculum committee and Dr. Vinuta Deshpande, Incharge DOPE for KIPT coordinated the programme. Total of 13 newly recruited faculties participated and were benefitted by this programme.

A Prototype “Turnbuckle Osteoarthritis Knee Brace With Sensor Based Assessment Of Forces ” by Dr. Vijay Kage, Dr. Peeyoosha Gurudatt, Dr. Aarti Welling from Department of Orthopaedic Physiotherapy was selected among the Top ten innovations from the various Presentations at KLE MEDTECH HACKETHON organised by KAHER Incubation centre on 30th August 2024. Principal Dr. Sanjiv Kumar and all the faculty members extend a hearty congratulations to the team and all the participants of the event .

• On occasion of world Physiotherapy day Department of CBR conducted a Free Physiotherapy Camp and Door to Door Disability and Low Back Pain Survey at Sambra village on 9thSeptember 2024.The Gram Panchayat members and ASHA workers of the village welcomed our Mobile community Bus and encouraged the villagers to take benefit of the physiotherapy services. Total of 11 Patients were treated and 16 Households were surveyed..

• On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day, the Entertainment Committee of KLE Institute of Physiotherapy organized a vibrant and impactful street play at KLE Independent PU College on 9th September 2024. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of physiotherapy in promoting health, well-being, and recovery from injuries.

• The literary and education committee of KLE institute of physiotherapy conducted a teacher’s day programme on 5th September 2024 from 10am to 12pm at the B.S Jirge auditorium, KLE centenary convention centre. The event was graced by chief guest Mrs. Lata kittur who highlighted the importance of teachers in an individual’s life . The event began by an invocation song sung by students of the college. The lighting of the lamp was done by Dignitaries. This was followed by a welcome address given by a member of literary and education committee. Respects were paid to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Dignitaries including the principal Dr. Sanjiv Kumar, dean Dr. Vijay Kage and the vice principal Dr. Santosh Metgud were present. Presidential remark were given by the principal Dr. Sanjiv Kumar, in which he enlightened the students and teachers on the importance of education. The vote of thanks was given by co- general secretary of the student council 2024-25.The event was graced by 40 teachers and more than 300 students attended the same. The event was a grand success.

• On the occassion of “World Physiotherapy Day” the Literary and Education committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy conducted a debate competition on 09/09/2024 for the MPT students on the topic ” Artificial Intelligence in Physiotherapy: Boon or Bane?” from 02:00-04:00 pm. A total of 8 teams (16 MPT students) participated in the same. All the students put forth their best performance.

• On the occassion of “World Physiotherapy Day” the Extramural Committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy conducted a poster making competition on 09/09/2024 on the topic “Low back pain, prevention and management” from 11:00 am -01:00 pm. A total of 12 BPT students participated in the same. All the students put forth their best performance.

• On the occasion of *World Physiotherapy Day* *NSS UNIT 05 Of KAHER institute of physiotherapy* organised blood donation camp. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Tejashree Pradhan Deputy registrar KAHER and Dr. V. S. Veergi. A total of 130 students were screened for voluntary blood donation and 107 units of blood were collected. NSS program and camp officer Dr. Santosh Metgud and Dr. Raghvendra Dharwadkar were present during the camp.

• A series of online guest lectures were conducted by the KAHER institute of Physiotherapy’s student council entertainment committee on occassion of world physiotherapy day celebration. The speakers for the guest lecture series were Dr. Thorsten Fischer, Facial Distortion Model Instructor( Germany), Dr. Ruchi Varshney, President IAP women cell and Mrs. Jyoti Katti, Legal Officer KAHER. The speakers shared their valuable insights on Facial distortion model, role of women cell in IAP and medical law.

• On occasion of World Physiotherapy Day 2024, the Cultural committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi organized an Interclass “T-Shirt Painting of Tagline” competition on 9th September 2024.A two member team participated from each class. The event was judged by Dr. Anjana Adhyapak from KAHER Pharmacy College, Belagavi and Dr. Asha Bhatt from KAHER INS, Belagavi. The best Tagline would be featured on the College Annual Magazine “DISHA 2024”.Dr. Vinuta Deshpande, Incharge Cultural committee and Dr. Vijayalaxmi Kanabur, Member Cultural Committee coordinated the event.

• On the Occasion of World Physiotherapy Day, KLE Institute of physiotherapy Department of CVTS conducted an Healthy Heart Awareness Programme on 9/9/2024 held at G.A. Kannada High school, where poster awareness regarding ways to keep healthy heart and practical orientation regarding fitness education was given to students of 10th standard held on date 9/9/2024 under the guidance of Dr. Ganesh B. R., professor & HOD of CVTS ,it was appreciated by Principal and Students of G.A.High school.

• On the occasion of *World Physiotherapy Day* Sports Department Of Physiotherapy organised free low back pain screening camp in cyclists. The satisfactory number of cyclists benefited from the screening camp.

• Department of Physiotherapy Education organized a workshop on “Coping with stress and emotions for the non teaching faculty members of all constituent units of KAHER on 10th September 2024 from 10-12pm in silver jubilee hall of KIPT. The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Ashwini Narasannavar, Associate Professor and NSS Programme Coordinator, KAHER. The participants were sensitized on stress, its ill effects on health and its management at workplace and Personal life. The workshop also had practical demonstration of the stress coping stratergies. Total of 16 non teaching faculty from various constituent units of KAHER participated and were benefitted from this workshop.

• On occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi The cultural committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi organised an “Intercollegiate Bhakti Geet Competition” on 10th September 2024 at the Ganpathi hall. Students groups from different constituent units participated in the event. Dr. Vinita Deshpande and Dr. Anjana Javali coordinated the Event.

• The extramural committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy organized an online webinar on “Substance abuse awareness” on 19th of September 2024 from 11:00 am. to. 01:00pm in room no 7a. Guest speaker was Mrs. Keertisudha Rajput who is currently working as Rehabilitation Psychologist and as a CEO at Kaizen Institute, Bangalore. She enlightened the students about ill effects of tobacco and alcohol usage. The event was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Sanjiv Kumar Principal, and Dr. Nikita Pawar In charge Extramural Committee KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy. All the first and second year BPT students and post graduate students attended the webinar.

• World Physiotherapy Asia Western Pacific Region Congress was held at Bali Indonesia from 26-28 September 2024. Dr. Anand Heggannavar, Assistant COE,KAHER and Professor- HOD, Department of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy, KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi presented an E-Poster at this event. KIPT family proudly Congratulates Dr. Anand for this Achievement!!!!.

• Girls badminton team of our college was selected For District Level Dasara Sports 2024 conducted at Dharwad on 28th September 2024 where they bagged the Gold medal and have been selected for the state level final events which will be held at Mysuru from 3rd to 6th of October. • On the occasion of World Heart day kle Institute of Physiotherapy department of CVTS conducted a poster awareness program on 28-09-2024 held at kles Dr. Prabhakar kore hospital & MRC ,in presence of chief guest Dr. (col) M. Dayananda (Medical director), Principal kle institute of physiotherapy Dr. Sanjiv kumar, cardiology consultant Dr. Prasad M.R this poster awareness programme was conduted. In this programme the importance regarding cardiac rehabilitation and it clinical implications with its evidence based practice towards treating Cardiac disorders and heart health ,awareness about heart disease through the poster presentation was oriented to the students, patients, attenders and faculty members of KLES Dr. Prabhakar kore hospital & MRC ,under the guidance of DR. Ganesh B.R (HOD and Proffesor dept of CVTS Physiotherapy).A vedio in this regard was also played to benefit the patients and care givers. The motive of the programme was appreciated by all. Chief guest Dr. (COL) M. Dyananda Sagar spoke few words regarding the cardiac rehabilitation and motivated all the students to work with enthusiasm and help patients to recover early.

• Department of community Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi Conducted a Awareness programme on “Exercises and it’s Benefits” for the students of Government Marathi Higher Primary school, Sambra on 30 th September 2024. The staff and students of the school were oriented to benefits of exercises in daily and life and how it positively affects thier academic performance. Total of 45 students and 3 staff members were benefitted from this awareness Programme.

• Department of community physiotherapy conducted a awareness talk on lifestyle disorders and importance of physical activity at Shantai Vrudhashram on 30 th September 2024. Total of 35 inmates were benefitted from this event.
