RECENT HIGHLIGHTS
• The extramural committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy organized a E Poster Making competition to celebrate WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY on 5th of June 2025 from 5pm onwards. The theme for the competition was “BeatPlasticPollution” Dr. Soumya Hulmani was the judge for the event.The event was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Sanjiv Kumar Principal, KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy and extramural committee.A total of 8 student participated in the event.
• On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, the CBR department in collaboration with NSS unit 5 conducted an awareness program and a best out of waste competition on 5th June 2025 at Government Primary Marathi School, Benkanhalli, in accordance with the year’s theme of “Plastic Pollution.” The event aimed to educate young students on the harmful effects of plastic on the environment . An informative lecture was delivered to the students, emphasizing the three R’s which is reduce, reuse and recycle . The students actively participated in taking a pledge to reduce plastic consumption and conserve the environment. Additionally, a best out of waste competition was held to promote reuse and recycle and to reinforce the theme. A total of 33 students benefitted from the event. The program served as a valuable initiative in instilling environmental awareness and responsibility among young learners.
• We are beyond thrilled to share that our very own Eesha Bharat Patil, BPT 2nd Year student, has won the Gold Medal at the 4th Senior National Qazaq Kures Championship 2025 held in Udaipur, Rajasthan from June 6–8! This prestigious event was part of Kazakhstan’s “Born Bold” campaign promoting the traditional wrestling style, Qazaq Kures.But that’s not all… Eesha has been selected to represent India at the World Championship in Georgia!
• The Department of Biomechanics, Physiotherapy, conducted a guest lecture on 9th June 2025 on the topic “Use of EMG in the Assessment of Muscle Performance and Endurance.” The session was delivered by Professor Jim Richards, an expert in the field of biomechanics.A total of 98 students attended the lecture and were benefitted by the session.
• The extramural committee of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy organized a Face Painting Competition to celebrate WORLD WORLD OCEAN DAY on 9th of June 2025 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The theme for the competition was “Wonders Sustaining What Sustain’s US” Dr.Ashwini and Dr.Aarti Welling were the judges for the event. The participants took efforts to showcase their excellent skills. The event was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Sanjiv Kumar Principal, and Extramural committee . A total of 12 student participated in the event..
• Dr. Anand Heggannavvar, Professor & HOD, Department of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy, was invited as a resource person at the CME on Shoulder organized by Lotus Hospital, Belagavi at UK 27 on 15th June 2025.He delivered an impactful session on Advanced Treatment Programs for the Shoulder, sharing valuable clinical insights and evidence-based strategies. We’re proud to see our faculty contributing to professional excellence and knowledge sharing.
• Dr. Peyoosha Gurudut, Professor & HOD, Department of Orthopaedic Physiotherapy, was invited as a resource person at the CME on Shoulder organized by Lotus Hospital, Belagavi at UK 27 on 15th June 2025.She delivered a comprehensive session on Biomechanics and Pathomechanics of the Shoulder, sharing her expertise on foundational movement science and clinical relevance. We’re proud to see our faculty contributing to academic excellence and professional growth in physiotherapy.
• Dr. Santosh Metgud, Vice Principal and Professor, KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, was invited as a resource person at the CME on Shoulder organized by Lotus Hospital, Belagavi at UK 27 on 15th June 2025.He delivered an engaging session on the topic: “Any Shoulder Pain is ‘Frozen Shoulder’?”, addressing myths and providing clarity on differential diagnosis and clinical reasoning. We are proud to see our leadership contributing to knowledge sharing and advancing clinical practice.
• Celebrating the Spirit of Yoga! On the eve of International Day of Yoga, KAHER NSS Unit 5 – Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, conducted a rejuvenating yoga session for the inmates of Gharkul Old Age Home, Benkanhalli on 21.06.25 .Led by Mr. Kishan Thorat, the session benefited 42 elderly residents, promoting wellness, peace, and connection.
• *Congratulations Dr. Arati Mahishale* Professor & HOD, Dept. of OBG Physiotherapy and Assistant IQAC Coordinator, KAHER Awarded *Best Paper* for oral presentation at the ARQ International Conference, Chennai, organized by Sri Ramachandra University!

• On the occasion of the *International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking*, the NSS Unit 5 of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi, organized an essay writing competition on **26th June 2025**. A total of **11 participants** from various years of the BPT and MPT programs actively took part in the event, expressing their views on the ill effects of drug abuse and the importance of a drug-free society.Following the competition, a **pledge against drug use** was administered by the NSS Camp Officer of the institute, reinforcing the commitment of students towards a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. In addition, the **first-year BPT students** were guided to take the *”Yes to Life, No to Drugs”* pledge on the **MyGov portal** initiated by the *Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India*.The event aimed to raise awareness, encourage preventive action, and promote positive choices among the student community.
• The Gender Equality Cell of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy organized an awareness talk on Health, Hygiene and Mental health for LGBTQ+ community on 26th June 2025 on the occasion of Pride Month. Dr. Arati Mahishale, Professor and Head of Physiotherapy in Obstetric and Gynaecology Department delivered the talk. Mr. Tanaji, founder of Humanity Foundation helped in organizing the event. The awareness talk focused on health and hygiene among the community. The event was held at Humanity Foundation, Belagavi. 30 individulas were benefitted from the event. The event was co-ordinated by Dr. Aarti Welling, Incharge Gender eqality cell, Dr. Dhaval Chivate and Dr. Anjana Javali, members of the Gender Equality Cell.The postgraduate students of Physiotherapy in Obstetric and Gynaecology Department and BPT-IV year also participated in organizing the event.
